Welcome to the Homburg Photography Blog!

We are Karl and Stephanie Homburg, a husband and wife team of portrait and wedding photographers working throughout Northeast Wisconsin.

We love people in love, squishy newborns, energetic toddlers, grown ups who can laugh at themselves, and clients who forget we are taking their picture. We pride ourselves in capturing the moments and details you don't want to forget.

We invite you to take a peek at our most recent sessions, and then contact us to schedule a session of your own!

Mr and Mrs. Doug Odell: Married August 31st, 2008! {Green Bay Wedding Photography}

I’m so excited to share this blog post with everyone today because Kristin and Doug had such an amazing wedding. But I’m also a little sad, because blogging it means the wedding is over! Karl and I have been looking forward to this wedding since our very first Starbucks meeting with these guys. My first impression was that these two knew exactly what they wanted for their wedding day. And when they decided they wanted us to capture it…well let’s just say I was a little excited!

How about some pictures?

I can’t think of another word to describe Kristin’s dress other than amazing. Jenna, Kristin’s fantastic friend and personal assistant who just happens to be a wedding professional, took me back to Kristin’s hotel room to shoot the dress. I think I may have gasped when I walked in. The detail was just beautiful and perfectly suited for Kristin.

Speaking of detail….Doug had this necklace custom made for Kristin! The design matches their invitations and programs. Doug is so incredibly thoughtful. Hint to a certain husband who may be reading this blog: Custom designed jewelry is a *very* good idea!

I took this shot while preparing to capture Kristin’s dad helping her out of the car. I almost passed it over as I was picking their proofs. And then I looked again and saw the reflection of Lambeau Field in the window. On the drive over, Kristin shared that she couldn’t stop smiling when she drove up to the Atrium for their rehearsal because it was so amazing that they were actually getting married there. I got goosebumps while she was talking, and they returned when I looked at this image.

On to the ceremony…

To say the ceremony was emotional would be a massive understatement. Doug’s sisters served as bridesmaids and both cried on their way up the aisle. I had my eye on Doug, waiting for him to see his bride for the first time, and saw that he too was crying. Thank goodness for auto focus because I couldn’t see through my own tears.

In addition to saying vows and exchanging rings, Kristin and Doug participated in a handfasting ceremony. The symbolism of their lives being tied together forever was just perfect.

Even the littlest members of the bridal party were fixated on the ceremony!

Now a Lambeau Field wedding wouldn’t be a Lambeau Field wedding without a trip out to the field, so even though Kristin and Doug got married on the hottest day of the year we stepped outside for a few pictures.

I can’t even begin to tell you how impressed I was with the Green Bay Packers staff. They went out of their way to make sure everything went smoothly, and did so with a smile. Erin even improvised turning a recycling bin into a makeshift stool for Kristin to sit down before the ceremony. If you’re a bride in search of a top notch location for your ceremony or reception, consider the Atrium. I’ve never seen better service!

And because I have a mildly sarcastic streak, I had to post this picture to show that even though he’s now a (gasp) New York Jet, Brett Favre was still present for Kristin and Doug’s celebration. That Number 4, you just never know where he will show up! :)

This was a shot Kristin had been thinking about throughout her wedding planning. She even included it in the wedding program. Capturing the moment, with all the wedding guests gathered on the Atrium floor. It took some cell phone communication between Karl on the 4th floor and myself on the ground, but we pulled it off! What a great memory!

On to the reception…

And the award for the coolest centerpiece goes to…Kristin and Doug! Each table had its own cake. My favorite part was that among the tables there were seven or eight different flavors. So throughout the night guests were visiting different tables to get a taste. Even the bride and groom were walking around with forks in hand. Such a neat touch!

Nothing makes me happier at a reception than seeing the bride and groom enjoying themselves. Yes, there are lots of guests to talk to, and lots of pictures to take, but when it comes down to it…GO HAVE FUN!! Chances are your wedding reception is the biggest party you will ever throw, so be sure to enjoy every moment of it!

Kristin and Doug wanted their guests to have something special to remember the big night…

so we set up a portrait setup just outside the ballroom to capture all of the guests. Special thanks to our good friend Mike Howlett who came along to help us out. Every time I peeked my head out the door, a line was forming next to Mike.

And at the end of the night we made sure to jump in line to grab a shot with the happy couple!

Kristin and Doug, Karl and I are so thankful to have been a part of your special day. You guys are so perfect for each other and are surrounded by so much love from your family and friends. We hope Hawaii was amazing! Next time can we come along? :)
